Shadows in the Dark

“Shadows in the Dark”

Join Trivia Puppet Company as they perform a series of shadow theatre vignettes meant to bring mirth, merriment, joy (and Puppets) to the deepest and darkest part of Winter.

Dustin Curtis - puppeteer

Artists At the Center is a multi-year collaboration between Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Seattle Center, with support from Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition and the communities adjacent to Seattle Center campus. The project is made possible by a 10-year grant from Climate Pledge Arena and Seattle Kraken.

Join us as we introduce emerging and established artists and celebrate their talent on a newly revitalized Seattle Center campus. Artists are given a performance opportunity, allowing them to connect with new audiences, display their talents and advance their careers. Visitors to campus and the surrounding neighborhood benefit from surprising and delightful pop-up performances throughout the year. Each year, artists are selected with an equity and social justice lens, ensuring equitable representation for underserved and emerging artists. Artistic genres include music, dance, theater, demonstrations, and multi-disciplinary work.

Shadows on the Snow - The Socks on my Hands Puppet Slam

The Socks on my Hands puppet slam returns to entertain us in the deepest and darkest weeks of winter. With the holidays slowly fading behind us, let these puppeteers dazzle you with our theme Shadows on the Snow. A new winter tradition, Shadows on the Snow seeks to present enchanting short-form puppetry produced by local puppeteers and by curious artists of all backgrounds as they seek to experiment with puppetry as a medium. Greet 2024 with a light-hearted and fun-filled evening.

  • The Socks on my Hands Puppet Slam presents short puppetry acts intended for an adult audience. This event is recommended for ages 16+.

  • This series is supported by the generosity of The Puppet Slam Network and Trivia Puppet Company

Founded in 2023 to serve south King County, Pierce County and other areas of Washington State; SOMHPS seeks to bring performance opportunities to various diverse communities to allow creative experimentation and exposure to the puppetry arts. Our hope is to recruit future storytellers and empower them by exploring their creative force through the universal language of puppetry. Each created piece is the potential start to a new and more diverse generation of artists and puppeteers. We also wish to awaken the passion in each individual who participates while supporting them both in creating a space and by offering support through access to professional puppeteers.

This Slam is produced by Socks on my Hands Productions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
